The Local Area
Le Vigan is the local village, 1km from La Grange, and is a typically french village, with a charming church and local amenities for all your immediate needs of butchers, bakers, mini supermarket, pharmacy, post office, restaurants and local bar. There is also a local pleasure lake, riding school and tennis courts. The well known Henri Giron Museum & gastronomic restaurant is close by.
Gourdon: A visit to the local, historic town of Gourdon is a must. Gourdon has an unspoilt medieval character with many picturesque streets and squares. Here you will find many great restaurants and attractive cafes, not forgetting the weekly markets where you can buy regional specialties direct from the farmers. We provide a comprehensive guide book on the local area, there is also a large Tourist Information centre in the town to provide you with assistance on the many places to visit, and numerous shops for all your needs. During the summer months there are various fetes and festivals locally which are a great source of entertainment. Also nearby is a large pleasure/swimming lake, "Lac d'ecoute s'il Pleut" for you & your family to enjoy on those hot summer days and an open air swimming pool in Gourdon.

There are many lakes with sandy beaches for swimming & windsurfing; all of the towns and many of the villages have good sports facilities with open-air swimming pools, tennis courts, bike hire and fishing. Also found here are some of the best preserved medieval towns to be found anywhere in Europe and they are not to be missed. There are too many places to visit to mention them all, however, those not to be missed are: Sarlat, Domme, Rocamadour, Beynac, Carrennac, Roque Gageac, not to mention the prehistoric caves of Grottes de Cougnac, Gouffre de Padirac & Les Eyzies. You will not be stuck for something to do! The food & wine is another great reason to visit this area of France. This is the land of duck & goose, foie gras & truffles, wonderful cheeses, and boasts a wealth of superb restaurants. It is also and extensive wine producing area, and Bergerac, Monbazillac, Bordeau and St. Emillion are a few hours drive away, not to mention the ruby wines of Cahors, c.30 minutes away.
